Ingredients
- 1 cups butter, softened
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup molasses
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup hot water
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tbsp ground ginger
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground cloves
- ¼ tsp salt
Maple Vanilla Glaze
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 2 tsp maple s syrup
- 2-3 tsp water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- Grease a 9x5 inches loaf pan
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar.
- Beat egg until light and fluffy stir in molasses.
- Dissolve baking soda in hot water, and set aside.
- Sift together flour, cinnamon, ginger, clove , and salt.
- Add flour mixture alternately with dissolved baking soda into creamed mixture, stirring until blended.
- Pour mixture into cake pan.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until inserted tester into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 15 minutes.
Maple Vanilla Glaze
- Mix icing sugar, water, and maple syrup, until smooth.
- Drizzle over the cake.
